Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)
We want to make sure that our provision meets the needs of each individual child, and so we will put in place plans to take account of any special educational needs or disabilities your child may have.
Our Special Educational Needs and/or Disability Coordinator (SENDCo) is Sophie Barker and she will work with you and any other person who may be involved in the care of your child, such as health visitors, speech therapists or other professionals to make sure your child is fully supported.
We work to the requirements of the 2011 Education Act and The Special Educational Needs Code of Practice (2014).
PATA is committed to the inclusion of all children. We provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment in which all children with special educational needs and disability (SEND) are supported to enjoy learning and reach their full potential.
In general, we follow the guidance provided by Gloucestershire County Council: Gloucestershire Guidance Booklet for Practitioners Working with Children and Young People with Additional Needs including Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (Gloucestershire County Council, 2nd ed, 2016). This has regard to the following legislation and guidance:
Children and Families Act 2014, Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice (0 to 25), Working Together to Safeguard Children, the statutory framework for the early years foundation stage, and the Equality Act (2010).
